Shifting focus
Ela leaves downtown Halifax

On November 6, 2012, Costa Elles and Chris Tzaneteas, owners of ela Greek Taverna, took a crucial step in the evolution of their business by closing their downtown Halifax location. After a particularly difficult summer, they’d decided to shift their focus to their Bayers Lake and Dartmouth Crossing restaurants.

“The landscape of downtown has changed in the last few years and a lot of our clientele are now visiting our other locations,” says Elles. “We have another two spots to consider and we can’t jeopardize those by continuing on a path that’s detrimental to the overall company.”

Elles and Tzaneteas have ensured that each member of their Argyle Street staff is given a place in one of their other locations. Elles has also indicated that he expects that shifting focus to the other restaurants will open doors to new opportunities elsewhere in Atlantic Canada.
