The whole concept of starting a business is both exhilarating and terrifying. Visions of how the business will look dance in my head each time I imagine how it’s all going to look – the products on the shelves, the colour of the walls, the layout of the treatment rooms, the happy customers – oh so many happy customers!
But the most important details, such as a strong financial foundation and the perfect location remain at the forefront. And that is where I am thankful for businesses like the Newfoundland and Labrador Credit Union (NLCU), who can keep me grounded when I get too dreamy.
Our (my partner and I) financial plans are well underway and the NLCU has provided more support than they could possibly imagine. From panicked phone calls to Alison Chaytor-Loveys who is so calm and level-headed, to setting up the ever important bank account and point of sales systems, they are there at every step.
As a fledgling business that is not yet up and running, the level of professionalism and friendliness of NLCU can’t be overstated here. No matter the issue, we are able to call them (or email) and they seem to be able to guide us in the right direction.
We are in the process of setting up our point of sales system, which will be specially designed to meet our specific needs. As we search for the perfect location we continue to work in the background putting all our resources to work and making sure we have a solid foundation upon which to build the Om Centre.
The summer heat has not dulled our senses yet! We are working hard behind the scenes to bring a unique business to the people of St. John’s metro. Stay tuned while we learn from these amazing mentors. You are going to love it.
